Summary of Responsibilities

 

1. Summary of Responsibilities

S.O.M.H.A. 1st and 3rd Vice Presidents

  • Attendance at all Winnipeg East League meetings to represent the interests of S.O.M.H.A..
  • Overall coordination of the “A” hockey program within S.O.M.H.A..
  • Coordination of team allocation to community clubs.
  • Selection of 8A1, 9A1 and 10Al coaches.
  • Tryout camp scheduling for S.O.M.H.A.   8 to 17 A1 to A3 teams (except female hockey).
  • Recruit East League age convenors for two divisions.
  • Recruit S.O.M.H.A. members for the East League suspension board.
  • East League scheduling (ice allocation and schedule preparation).
  • Allocation of S.O.M.H.A. indoor ice to community clubs on an equitable basis as available.
  • Coordinate team relegation at mid-point of season (movement up and down within East League).
  • Coordinate City playoff schedules for divisions hosted by S.O.M.H.A..
  • Resolve problems as necessary based on input from Community Club and Age Convenors.
  • Recruit S.O.M.H.A. playoff convenors to manage the locally held East League playoffs.
  • Coordination of tryout fee collection and submission to S.O.M.H.A. Treasurer.
  • Team formation coordination (controlling number of skaters/goalies chosen per team).
  • Handling issues involving their age group(s) as they arise throughout year.

 East League Age Convenors

  • Maintaining league statistics for one East League division (e.g. 9A1, 10A1) based on information.
  • Received from coaches (wins, losses, ties, goals for, goals against).
  • Advising East League media coordinator of league (division) standings on a weekly basis.
  • Coordinate player/coach suspensions within the division based on game sheets, information received.
  • From referees and/or the results of suspension hearings.
  • Participate in team relegation at mid-point of season (provide input from coaches within division).

 East League Suspension Board Members

  • Represent S.O.M.W.A. at suspension hearings on a periodic or ad hoc basis (several times per year).

 Community Club Convenors

  • Coordinate the annual registration process on behalf of his/her home community club.
  • Participate in team allocation to community clubs in conjunction with other convenors.
  • Selection of coaches.
  • Contacting players from his/her community club to ensure they are aware of tryout camps.
  • Ensuring that tryout camps associated with his/her team are well organized.
  • Provision of team sweaters and other appropriate equipment and supplies.
  • Provision of practice ice to meet the requirements of all teams.
  • Coordination of team roster sheet completion and registration fee collection.
  • Handling issues involving his/her community club as they arise.
  • Coordinate directors to be present at every playoff game we host.
